Elizabeth Hopkins Thomas Criminal Defense and Family Law Attorney
Elizabeth Hopkins Thomas is a Partner at Mannette and Thomas focusing in the areas of Criminal Defense, Family Law, and Social Security Disability. Ms. Hopkins Thomas has shown a commitment to equal justice for all people through her work with various non-profit, juvenile, and community centered programs. Her passion for social justice has extended beyond the office into the community, and is present in her interactions with her clients and the courts. Ms. Hopkins Thomas believes that she must do everything within her power and the bounds of the law to afford her clients optimal outcomes in each and every case.
Ms. Hopkins Thomas is a graduate of the University Of North Carolina School Of Law. In 2011, Ms. Hopkins studied International Business at the University of Jean Moulin-III, earning a postgraduate diploma in International and European Law. Elizabeth’s international studies have afforded her the opportunity to connect with diverse clientele, and understand complex international legal issues.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Hopkins Thomas taught 8th grade Language Arts in Charlotte, NC through Teach for America. Teaching in an underprivileged school afforded her the opportunity to serve the community while simultaneously allowing her to learn more about the social ills that plague our nation. Many of her students and their families had issues with immigration, criminal law, and abuse and neglect. Her experiences with students inspired her to pursue a career in the law in order to fight some of the complex issues she observed.
For her undergraduate studies, Ms. Hopkins attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science. While at UNC, Elizabeth studied abroad at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Ms. Hopkins is from Johnson City, TN where she graduated from Science Hill High School.
